Oort is named after the mysterious region of our solar system that breeds comets. Massive amounts of roasted barley and chocolate malts were combined with three types of caramel malts for a rich, full mouthfeel. Chinook, Cascade, and Sterling hops lend a balanced bitterness and subtle hop flavor to this brew that is as black as the vacuum of space.

Black colour with a dark brown head. On the nose there's a toffeeish sweetness that underpins some dark fruits and a bit of roast. Nice, thick body, with a health dose of residual sugars. It's got moderate bitterness, lots of sweetness (especially burnt sugars), and a little touch of fruitness. Finishes well-balanced between sweet and bitter, with a lot of roast and a hit of alcohol. It's one of those beers...not flashy but really just clinical in its execution.

Bottle @ tasting with Caesar and Jerohen. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, bourbon, vanilla. Taste malts, roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla and light sweet - bitterness. Medium body and soft yet medium carbonation. Nice!

Lots of caramel, thick, smooth, almost like a malt float

Pours a near black from a bottle, khaki head. Sort of a nutty aroma, roasty. Flavor is surprisingly thin, a little sweet, but with a lingering bitterness on the finish. Good beer.

Aromas are mainly rosti then some Coco dark malt and wood and leather. Flavors aren't quite so complex some roast and Coco dark malt and not a lot more. Lingering bitterness in the Finish decent body very little sign of the alcohol Fair Imperial Stout.

On tap at Trails End Taproom. Black, with a small, tan head. The aroma is chicory, bakers chocolate, toffee, and mud. Sweet, and oddly dank. Heavy body, thick, and creamy. Great initial aroma, but an unfortunate flavor.

650 ml bottle. Pour black with full bubbly head. Aromas of dark berries and dark chocolate. Flavors of same with additional rich coffee/espresso, blueberries/currants and oily roasted malts. Great stuff.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very large, five centimetre tall rich brown head with no opacity in the body at all - completely opaque. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, raisins, figs, grain and a bit of oatmeal and coffee as well - nice and light smelling. Full-bodied; Rich chocolately mouthful with a good dose of roasted malts, a lot of bitterness from coffee and vanilla with a touch of tobacco and lactose with a lot of milk sugars and body from cream, seemingly. Aftertaste shows a nice complexity with the roastiness definitely front and centre, also showing some grain, cream, alcohol, earth, toffee, grain and a ton of vanilla, oak and dry bitterness - very nice throughout. Overall, a nice beer that seemed to age very nicely - showing a ton of complexity, but a subdued flavour throughout blurs the harshness of the malt and alcohols, with the roast, coffee and chocolate flavours that still make it through. Great to try, and well worth aging if you’ve got the facilities. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 10-March-2015 for US$8,31 sampled at home in Washington on 03-February-2017.
