This is a style of wheat beer originating from the south of Germany. The yeast produces unique flavours of banana and cloves with a dry and tart edge. Minimal hop bitterness. “Hefe” means “with yeast”, hence the beers cloudy appearance.

Cloudy yellow pour, big white head. Heavy wheat Aroma, big banana and bubblegum esters.... Typical, but good. Hefe aromas
Some light clove and cereals make their way in too. Carb and mouth feel are standard for this style. Finish is low on bitterness, and finish with more of the same. Some solid banana and some nice lemon zest.

Hazy blond with quick fading head. Aroma has quite strong banana esters. Flavour is a bit less sweet. Germanic style.

Can @ home. Clear pale golden color, fizzy white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is wheat, sweetish notes of banana and pear. Tastes about the same: wheat, banana, pear, light herbal / spicy yeasty notes towards the end. Average to medium body, slightly fizzy carbonation. Ok.

opalescent golden colour, minimal head; aroma of wet wheat, lemony notes, grains and slight banana; taste is the same with some slight peppery notes in the aftertaste; drinkable weizen, nothing more

Cannette 471ml.

Can. Cloudy orange with a small white head that’s quickly gone. Aroma is bready with dried banana and cloves. Carbonation is on the low side. Light bodied. As much fruit as bread really, with some stone fruit as well as banana. There’s an unusual but pleasant note in there that’s something like char grilled pineapple. Spices are not as prominent as suggested by the aroma but along with highish bitterness (for a hefeweizen) give a snap to the dry finish. Looks poor but is interesting and good - an unusual combination for the style.

473ml can. Pours a slightly cloudy orange-gold with a thin, white head that fully dissipates. Sweet aroma of bananas, bubblegum, yeast, wheat malt and cloves. Sweet, fruity flavour of bananas, lemon, wheat malt, bubblegum and cloves with a dry, tangy finish. Light body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. A decent hefe. The flavour makes up for the disappointing appearance.

Part of their Seasonal Variety Pack. Pours a hazy golden colour with a fizzy off-white head that does not stay too long and leaves nothing. Bubblegum nose with some sweetness as well from the Belgian Ale yeasts. Hints of spices, which also appear in the flavours with some banana notes in the finish. Just a tad tarty, but pretty wet mouthfeel overall. Decent, but watered-down Hefeweizen. Lacking a bit of punch.
