Five thousand years ago the Mayan Calendar last turned over. Since then, Nostradamus, The Book of Revelations and random Shaman have all prognosticated that mankind would meet a fateful end. Currently, our demise is scheduled for December 21, 2012 for it has been so decreed our world is about to end not in a Christian Judgment Day but rather a Mayan Apocalypse.
Funny thing is, the Mayans don’t actually believe in the concept of an Apocalypse. We at The Lost Abbey didn’t want to miss an opportunity to update our original Judgment Day recipe to accompany us as we collide towards this impending Rapture. Like us, we’re pretty sure you can believe in dried Chiles, Cinnamon and Tamarind working well together in this beer. This means you can count on this little bottle of beer to help you survive this cultural Armageddon. Please pop the cork and enjoy this version. We’ve got you covered. See you on December 22nd wherever life may take us.

Bottle - Roast malts, tamarind sourness and spice. Jet black with a thin beige head. Molasses, brown sugar, raisins and some throat heat. I like quads and I think the additions ruin what I tend to like.

A cork open with a nice pop. A beer is dark brown with a big, dense and yellowish beige head. The nose is interesting and very tastefull, sweet strawberries, dark fruits, spices, some aromatic perfume nuancees. Taste is intensive, dark dried fruits, some earthyness, hint of strawberries, the long end is spicy and have an influence on chilis. With yeast the taste is very smooth and each compenents are better balanced. Almost full bodied, high and smooth carbonation. The great aroma, also balanced and enjoyable beer with saucy.

Sample at the tasting room. The beer is an opaque dark brown color with a medium thick khaki head that recedes gradually. Rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of dark fruit, spices and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, mild peppers, cinnamon and ripe fruit. The finish is subtle peppers and chocolate. Above average overall.

375ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Somehow cautious and indifferent aroma, hints of chocolate, unspecific dark fruit, spices, cinnamon. Taste is moderately sweet, dark malty, hints of dark fruit, plum, grapes and the like, dark chocolate, chili, cinnamon, some warming alcohol in the finish. Heavy stuff, somehow without emphasis, not really satisfying.

Gott.
