Sampled @ CBC 2014. Hazy dark orange to amber color, small off-white to beige head. Malts, hops, slightly floral, slightly herbs or spices and quite bitter for a barley wine. Decent body and carbonation. -- Note: not sure I have entered the rating under the correct beer as I wrote down "Siren Golden Barley Wine", but this was the closest I could find.

Keg at Craft Clerko, first pour, 14/03/14. Lightly hazed chestnut brown with reddish hues anda moderate beige covering. Nose is dark fruit rind, toffee, mellow booze, pinch of spice. Taste comprises rich dark fruit vibes, caramel, candied orange peel, dates, fruit cake mix, bubblegum, demerara sugar. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light boozey licks in the close. Decent barley wine, easy drinking, not as complex as Maiden as to be expected but a solid winter nip none the less.

Keg at Craft Clerko. It pours cloudy deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is wood, earth, toffee, plum, date, dried fig, light spice and milk chocolate . The taste is bitter-sweet, toffee, raisin, date, sultana, pine, juicy plum, citrus rind, resin, sherry, alcohol kick and earth with a lingering bitter finish. Full body and fine carbonation. The pretty high bitterness carries the sweetness and makes this rather drinkable. Not quite as elegant as the maiden, but rather nice anyhow.

Craft Clerkenwell. Keg. Hazy deep red - amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate with nice fine carbonation. Creamy smooth malt with a bitter toffee - caramel streak. Bitter pines hops edging toward salty. Finishes smooth and bitter with a bitter aniseed linger. A fine barleywine if a somewhat bitter one.

Keg at CBC Clerkenwell - London. Pours clear, deep garnet with a fine, creamy khaki head. The aroma holds lots of aged, semi-dark fruits, plums, creamy toffee, grapes and berries. Medium to big sweet flavor with mellow alcohol punch, lots of aged fruits, some woody bitterness, touches of earth, toasted caramel, slight vanilla. Full bodied with fine carbonation; lightly cheey. Moderate warmth in the conclusion with decent sweetness, fruitcake, toasted wood, earth, ripe fruits, berry skins, charred brown sugar. Great depth. Certainly robust but still quite drinkable.
