Heavy-duty porter, packed with rich chocolate notes, packed even more with boozy indulgence. Chocolate, anise, almond, rum, and bourbon all flood the palate, backed up by mellow cinnamon and a building cayenne kick on the back end. The front side is sweet and inviting, the finish laced with oak and vanilla and packing a firm liquor punch. Mellows somewhat as it warms, and the heat on the fade leads to a pleasant fuzziness as the pint disappears. Pours a dark brown that grows black in the glass, giving off a lingering thin beige head and nice layers of lace. Nose is a lovely mix of chocolate, bourbon, and oak. Perky, mildly viscous texture gives up just the right amount of boozy warmth. Tasty.

Sample at the "Black Friday 03" tasting on 11/24/2017. Brown-black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes gradually to an outer ring. Patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate, spice and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, mild pepper, chocolate and vanilla. The finish is roasty with a malt and pepper aftertaste. Good beer overall.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head,. Aromas of fruity chocolate, light spice and light fruity bourbon. Flavors of follow same in nice balance, with additional powdery roasted malts and white rum plus a little heat from both alcohol and pepper. Super.

Bottle @ GABF 2017. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate spicy cinnamon aroma with weak woody hints. Roasted malty chocolate caramel spicy woody cinnamon flavor. Has a roasted malty woody chocolate caramel spicy finish.
