Think Bavarian smoked ham and smooth toffee and you’ve got Smoke Bomb. A smoked dark beer.

Cask at the Maidenhead Beer Festival. A chestnut pour with a loose cream head; smoky aroma; brown sugar taste; and a dry finish with lingering smokiness. A rather simple smoked beer.

Cask at the Cask and Barrel Southside. Pours clear dark brown, thin beige head. Aromas of smoky bacon, meaty. Taste is smoky and very bitter. Lots of flavour for the strength. Pretty intense.

Cask at the euston tap. Mid amber / brown coloured pour with a lasting cream coloured loose head. Aroma is nice rauch malt, maple sausage, some nuts and wood. Flavour is composed of salty smoked sausage, little caramel malts, mineral, twigs, woodland. Nice balanced smoked malts character. Palate is pretty light, little thin with decent cask condition. Lingering charred wood and sausage.

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 30 Nov 2014) Dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of smoke, bacon, dark bread, dried fruit and prunes. Malty, roasted taste with smoke, dark rye bread, orange peel, bacon and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. Rather light body, with a touch of sweetness. Quite complex, with lots of smoke and some fruit, still quite drinkable. Nice one.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Was the last pull before the barrel went. Didn’t get the smokiness and had light fruity flavours in aroma and taste. Might have to try and re-rate again given I’m not sure this is how it should have tasted.
