The London Alt Beer is a original Dusseldorf-style "old" ale. It is full-bodied, aromatic, and refreshing. While the sweet malt character dominates this traditional style, carefully selected Spalt hops provide floral aroma to give it balance and roundness.

33cl bottle. Sweetish malty nose. The beer starts malty, hints of sweetness, slightly dry. The Altbier-character is there, not too intense. I also miss the Düsseldorf-typical bitterness. Round and dry malty aftertaste with probably a bit too much sweetness. Ok but not a great copy.

Clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and has decent fine carbonation. Light dry malts, sweetish and caramelly. Little dried fruits. Light dry finish. Modest bitter linger. Fine.

Solid easy-drinking malt-forward Alt bier. Just lower the crystal and add more hops!

Keg at Mondo. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The nose is earthy, toasted grain, brown bread, date and toffee. The taste is crisp, bitter, toasted nut, earth, wood, dull toffee and pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a huge amount going on, but it works pretty well.

Keg at Ask For Janice, Smithfield. Deep gold with a bit of off-white head. Heady malt dominates the smell, along with some tangerine notes. Sweet, malty and heavily spiced taste. The end is a bit of a let down as an unbalanced sweet/sour ushers in a truncated finish. I also would have liked a fuller body but hey ho. Pretty good beer although far from perfect.
