Bottle from local Delhaize in Sint-Amandsberg. Pours clear amber, reddish, with an unstable, small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of rose water, almond, red apple, caramel, green & chamomille tea, pomegrenate, red berries, plum jam, pepper. Medium fruity sour onset, red apple, berries & plum; malty hints of caramel & nuts provide the basis for a light herbal bitterness, outspokenly tea-like but an early grapefruit-like hop character shows up. Dry, herbal & piney hoppy finish, lingering grapefruit peel, almond, red fruit. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Surprisingly bitter & hoppy, which is a good thing, nice 'red' tones, keeping the balance between a Saison and an Amber Ale.

Dark amber beer, slightly hazy, under a thick-set, irregular, cream-coloured head, stable. Slight caramel; banana, herbs, leaves, faintly spicy. Quite bitter; bitterish dry leaves, and caramel minus the sweetness. Bitterness keeps lingering. Hoppy, but more leafy-vegetable bitterness. Not very fruity in my book; if anything as from dried, non-sweet fruit if that can make any sense. Quite slick, medium bodied, medium to good carbonation. Like this! Pleasant surprise. 6/4/7/3/15

19th May 2017: mini-tasting at home with myself. Second beer of the session and the first of three beers from this brewery. 33cl bottle, slightly out of date: bugger. Poured slowly into a Chimay chalice, sediment and all went into the glass: colour is a dirty reddy brown and we have a few floaters within, on top a full uneven blanket of off-white foam and a stain where the sediment lept in. This is a nice beer, aroma has loads of different esters attacking the nose: yeatsy, herbie, spicey and fruity traces challange your senses to pick out the various pieces. The taste is on the semi-sweet side along with a mixture of flavours that follow the aroma’s with plenty of things to find. Having looked at a few ratings prior to opening this, it would seem the older the beer is since bottling the better and more mellow the beer becomes: so if you have one keep it for as long as you dare!
