2013 bottle. Murky brown color. Oaky vinous aroma, hints of balsamic vinegar. malty sweet, oaky vinous flavor with balsamic vinegar notes. The Original Aventinus is barely recognizable, the wine and oak dominates. Good!!

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a slightly cloudy pomegranate and copper color with a finger of foam that lingers. Vinous, tannic oak aromas with notes of bread and grain. Smooth with a slightly tart, berry note with plum really standing out as it warms. More fall fruit mid-palate with plum, pluot and oak standing out. Full bodied on the palate, with more vinous wine and bready grain on the finish. Enjoyable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Tap X Mein Cuvée Barrique on 12 Apr 2019 at 23:56 - Score: 7. Original review text: Lovely vinousband oak forward nose. Tart berry, plum and muscat on the palate. Lightly warming. Creamy oak and fall fruit:

Review based on the BJC2015 guidelines (style 33A:10C/9B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown - 2016 Edition (BBF 20.01.2021). AROMA: medium-high sour aroma with slight sulphury, horsy and acetic notes. wood background with slight vanillin. APPEARANCE: deep amber and slightly hazy with larger particles in suspension. low beige head with low retention. TASTE: medium sour notes with horsy/barnyard character and slight wood. very faint eisbock notes on the background. low bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium body with low carbonation. OVERALL: the example how excessive barrel maturation and improper barrel handling can ruin two world class beers.
