On tap at Valhalla Beer Club, pours jet black with a large brown head. Aroma is full of spicy rye, dark cocoa, deep dark malts, and a touch of smoke. Flavour is rich, with powerful dark malts, plenty of deep rye, gentle smoke, and some earthiness. Wonderful malt profile, just enough smoke, lovely rye. Excellent.

A beautifully blended IP from To Ol! Richer in body than expected. Notes of coffee, rye spice, toffee, dark chocolate and woody herbalness. Absolutely nailed the interaction between sweetness, heat, spiciness and earth tones. One of the best

Svart med brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, noe bål og rått kjøtt. Fyldig. Smaker mørk sjokolade, svisker og noe trevirke. Middels lang.

Bottled. Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is toast, some toffee, mild herbs as well as some roasted notes and mild smoked wet wooden elements. Flavour is roasted, some slight rye tartness with toffee, and mild ashy notes with some chocolaty elements too.

(Bottle) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, black rye bread, liquorice, raisins and some smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, black rye bread, chocolate, liquorice, raisins, vanilla, molasses, smoke and a finish with a mild roasty bitterness and some chilli heat. Full body, really sweet. Hardly balanced and far too sweet, but rich and tasty. Nice one.

I don't know how I keep picking these smoked beers, not too crazy about them, but this ones at least thick and drinkable (for my personal tastes). Nice spiciness too.
