Can at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam on 22nd March 2019. Coppery amber with shallow foam and scant lacing. Richly fruity in aroma, liquid and finish, with nutty maltiness and citrus zest. Zingy mouthfeel and a fair amount of body.

An APA by this young craft brewery in Noord-Amsterdam, sampled at Foeders, thanks to SterV for sharing! Hopped with Hallertau Blanc, which is basically an American style hop developed in Germany in 2012 as a reaction to the upsurge of American style ales there. Stable, medium thick, closed, off-white, lacing head on a pale orange-hued ‘old gold’ beer with misty appearance. Aroma of toasted sweet onions, grapefruit peel, young spruce shoots, bread crust, kumquat, garlic, old mango juice, bread crust. Fruity onset, softly sweetish mango, yellow kiwi and nectarine notes, soft carb, supple and highly quaffable, with bready, bit creamy malt sweetish body; very light peanutty toastedness is accentuated by a confident, aromatic hop bitterness in the end, oniony and grapefruity, lightly spicy and long but elegant and mild in its bitterness. This brewery apparently understand very well what this very American style is about, this is a textbook example of it and good proof that with Hallertau Blanc, generously showcased here, old Europe has achieved full connection with the American craft beer movement. Very cleverly done in that respect.
