Bottle. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - light fruity note from the yeast. Chocolate of course. Taste - chocolate nuts and a winey undertone. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - it engages my brain. Great.

24/XI/15 - 75cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BBE: 2019 (2015-1644) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, big creamy beige head, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: citrus, bit resinous, grapefruit, caramel, bit roasted. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: lots of chocolate, bitter hops, mocha, citrus, grassy. Aftertaste: little bitter, roasted, caramel, more bitterness, very dry and resinous finish. Wow, totally out of Fantôme style, but I love it!

Bottle from Belgiuminabox.com Pours black, big grey head. Smell is sharp bitterness, with a roasty undertone. Taste is sweet, roasty, mildly hoppy but surprisingly, very bitter in the aftertaste. Notes of dark chocolate / cocoa and even a hint of coffee. not very fruity in the hops, The real shock here is that it does not taste anything like fantome - unlike ALL other one’s I’ve had before- . It has no overkill spices, no clear ( tasteable, yet ? ) infection or dyacethyl. It has nothing off. Its ’just’ a black IPA. Thats a pretty nice suprise, since I’m not a fan of beers with obvious mistakes... this one is quite alright though ! but with the ghost, you’re never sure wether the bottle or the batch is good ;)
