Black brown colour, beige head. Roasted aroma, coffee, malts and a hint hops (or is that just the power of suggestion?). Roasted flavour, coffee and malts. Quite fizzy. Bit thin. Roasted finish, coffee.(from 75cL bottle @ ZZT XII, ’Getting Joes’d to it’, Oirschot. Thanks for sharing, 77ships!)

750 ml. bottle shared / sampled @ ZZT XIII. Dark brown, small mocha head. Nos is sweetish mocha, bit thin, light milk chocolate. Taste is mocha, caramel, big thin, light pepper, spice, little bitterness, close to none, lightly herbal, powdery mocha, … Powdery & thin body. Not really a BIPA but more of an okay Porter / Stout. The first Fantôme in far too long that isn’t awful or anything like that. Hell this one is not even weird. Weird – this time around it is weird by simply not being weird at all.

Bottle @ ZZT XII. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, earthy, slightly ashy, something peppery. Taste malts, earthy, slightly ashy, roast and -I don’t believe it but there is ondeed- hop. Nice bitterness as well. Decent body and carbonation. Total surprise every time Fantome bring out a beer that’s actually quite nice. This is one of them.

Bottle split at LKS, thanks to Kenny, 03/09/15. Lightly hazed chestnut brown topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is light pine, charr, earthy hops, dark berry fruits. Taste comprises light mineral notes, juniper, light cocoa, herbal elements, earthy hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. A little harsh and disjointed.

Bottle share at Mr Smith’s Stratoflat. Almost opaque dark amber beer, thin pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Bitterish and thin dark chocolate laced malts. A slightly skewed and bitterish floralness. Aniseed. Mild citrus. Finishes dry with more floral bitterness. Bitter linger. Not too bad.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours darkest brown with a thick tan head. The nose is fresh, juicy, cola cubes, liquorice, toasty, earth, Dandelion & Burdock and light spice. The taste is toasty, earthy roast, spice, charred wood, aniseed, liquorice, ashy and coffee with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation action. A bit weak and tame. Still ok.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours rich brown with a dense, foamy beige head. Chalky cocoa in the nose, some roast, earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with charred herbs, bitter dark chocolate, ash, earth. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Bitter ashy finish, more bitter cocoa, some burnt pine, a bit of hop resin, drying wood. So so.
