Seven malts were used to create deep flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses. A hint of bitterness and herbal character from carefully selected European and American hops help support the monolithic maltiness. After conditioning in stainless steel, this beer waited patiently in bourbon barrels for 8 to 12 months.

Alehub Advent Calender 2023. Almost black beer with a tan lacing. Aroma of mid sweet strong dark woody malt, bourbon, chocolate, liquorice. Taste of intense bourbon, sweet dark malt, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, some liquorice, slightly boozy.

Bottle @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma assente. Al naso note di malti tostati, vaniglia, legno, ossidazione, leggera oliva verde. In bocca è bilanciata, malti tostati, cioccolato fondente, caffè, vaniglia, amara in chiusura. Corpo pieno, leggermente inferiore alle attese, carbonazione soft. Un po' ossidata, ma si sente che la birra c'è.

375mL bottled 2022, drunk 8/4/23. Dark, viscous, undetermined clarity. Light tan head instantly to ring. Sweet fudge and chocolate, light vanilla and softer bourbon on the edges. Loooottta fudge...kinda smells like a Tootsie roll. Fudge, soy, milk chocolate, lighter bodied with some oxidation already. Bourbon adds some spice and sweet vanilla and corn which doesn't really help the already fudgey sweetness. Improves considerably as it warms and breathes, though, with excellent bourbon character surging forth. I could do a touch more viscosity and balancing acidity but this is well-done and most importantly, well-attenuated.

The bulk of my order came from the San Diego location. Aromas are lots of dark malt, roast, black patent and a touch of toffee. Good balance between bitter, sweet and some carbonation with the bourbon barrel coming in mildly in the finish. Strength is well hidden. A velvet hammer.

(Keg, 12.8% ABV, at Taproom Helsinki, 20220806) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate, vanilla and ash. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, dark chocolate, wood, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, burnt and bitter. A pleasant burnt brew with nice barrel effects.

From tap @ Taproom Helsinki. Poured black in color, almost no head. Raisins , malts, roastedness and bourbon all in good balance. Flavorful. Very smooth.

Molasses rains supreme. Big beer with a light body for the hugeness, makes it easy drinking. Good not world class. Beer temple ams ( july 2022 3.8) Again at beertemple. Same it is good
