With its centuries-old brewing history and time-honoured traditions, Belgium’s ‘craft’ beer movement is still very much focused on classic styles brewed to perfection. Homage, brewed with Yvan De Baets offers earthy and spicy hops, a spicy yeast character and is dry-hopped with Hallertau Blanc from Germany for interesting passionfruit and grape overtones. Dry and very refreshing.

On tap at the brewery Bermondsey. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Farmhouse wild yeast aroma. Some herb flavour. Some lemon some pepper. Decent farmhouse beer I thought. Good character.

Can big thanks to Mark. It pours clearish golden with a decent foamy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, grapefruit, lemonade, apple, biscuit and brioche. The taste is crisp, dry, clean, sweet biscuity character, grapefruit upfront, lemonade, bit of cereal and bread with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Lacks a bit of wow factor, but it is fairly drinkable. OK.

Keg at Fourpure, 02/08/18. Light haze on an orange amber pour with a decent off white head. Nose is tangy fruits, berry must, damp hay, grains. Taste comprises light funk, tangy berries, citric pissoi, geeen berry skins, damp cloth, balsa wood, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent saison.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. As Fourpure / De La Senne Homage. Hazed, pale gold. Slim, white head. Nose has banana. Sweet grain. Leafy hop. Some mouldy lemon. Taste is sweet, mostly, with some light dryness. Bit of a flabby mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Sweet grain to finish. It’s pretty crap, this. There’s little saison quality about it, and literally no dry hop character to it. Two decent brewers managed to put together something totally forgettable.

Keg at the brewery tap. A hazed translucent golden coloured pour with a lasting white cap. Aroma is decent floral saison yeast, apple, classic Belgian yeast, light floral on the nose. Perfume. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded base malts, straw, lemon, medium saison, floral.. Palate is light tang, highihs carbonation. Good
