Medium, rather dense dark-beige head over virtually black beer. Rather warm chocolate nose, with some spicy, but discreet hops. Bit of bubblegum and herbs. Dry, coffeeish, even stoutish flavours; dry-roasted barley. Hops are again just there in the background, mild and discreet. Little or no hopbitterness, sweetish and roasted malts in evidence. Plywood and coffee retronasal. Well-carbonated, medium bodied at best, bit sticky MF. A bit light on the hops, IMO. If you call it black IPA, guys, go for them!

33 cl. bottle shared // purchased @ Hopduvel. A BIPA from Brussels lovely. Great, lovely once again from these guys & another mighty fine beer from one of Belgium’s finest brewers. Whilst I occasionally feel like these guys were becoming a bit samey in the past, they are in a completely different ballpark now, lovely. Pours black with a mocha head. Smell is lovely hoppy, I am getting grapefruit here, lots & lovely citrus hops blended with chocolate, light delicious roast, lightly grainy & great chocolate. Taste is sweet mocha, chocolate, light coffee, sweet grains, touch bitter herbs, sweet with light but clearly noticeable fresh grapefruit, wonderful citrus. Easy to drink. Damn, mighty fine, keep up the great work, proof that fine Belgian breweries can do the new styles not only excellently but also highly original.

33cl bottle.
