Pours deep black into a snifter. Creamy head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Chocolate syrup aromas. Dry dark chocolate and caramel upfront turning to bitter chocolate and espresso in the lasting finish.

11.2 ml bottle purchased at Louisville Beer Store. Labeled as β€œKuro Oni Black IPA”. The pour is a black mahogany with a foamy three inch khaki head that falls with nice lacing. The aroma is a really interesting mix of spicy pine floral hops and a cocoa, lightly roast malt. Very soft and expressive nose. The taste is earthy and spicy, with a unique nuttiness that I can’t quite describe. Under the earthy hops is the soft cocoa minimally roast / toast malt of the nose. The spice herbal character dries out and carries the finish. The palate is light to medium bodied, softer carbonation and the earthy herbal dry finish. The linger after taste also shows some roast. Really interesting and well crafted beer.

330ml bottle from Beer-city.be

Pours pitch black with a hazy white head. Aroma of grainy malts, hints of sweet chocolate, grassy hops and fruits. Taste is grainy, bitter and slightly chocolatey with notes of vanilla, grassy hops and ashes. Finish is slightly roasty and bitter with notes of ashes and chocolate. Feels a bit unbalanced, maybe a bit too burnt and bitter, doesn’t feel very fresh or fruity either.

Bottle as Kuro Oni shared by Marcus. Aroma is dusty dark malt with pitted fruit and floral. Med body. Flavor is lightly chocolate malt with a burst of florality. Finishes with mildly burning bitter on the tongue. Good ale.

Bottle at het Brugs Beertje. It pours near black with a thick beige head. The nose is light roast, treacle, aniseed, bubblegum, candy sugar and fresh citrus. The taste is roasted malt, pine, resin, toast, treacle, light liquorice, zesty orange and pithy lemon with a set finish. Medium body and moderate coronation. Flavoursome and spot on balance. A delight.

at brugs beertje, bottle pours black ( clear) white regular foam, rather old hop in the smell ( this is 0,5 y old ) wattery mouthfeel. carbo is high, butt acceptable , bitterness, followed by a stoutish-oaty taste. very ok, but it would be way better if it had some thickness. what about eisbocking this ?

Bottle courtesy of sebletitje, thanks Sebastian! The 33cl bottle pours into my Tilquin Gueuze glass with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a light mocha head of foam that leaves behind some sheet lacing. The aroma offers up dusty dark roasted maltiness, a bit of chocolate malts and some spicy black licorice like hoppiness and a spicy cedar wood sensation. The taste ponies up dark roasted malts, burnt malts, a touch of sweet fruity esters and then a spicy note that is fairly black licorice like and rolling into a mild pine sap resin note. This has a pleasing mix of roastiness and hoppiness.
