22 oz bottle (2016) shared by DCLawyer, thanks Jason! Side by side with a 2013-ish bottle that had been rotting away in my cellar. Dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas of licorice, cocoa, caramel. Tastes of licorice, cocoa, dark fruit, caramel, dark chocolate, roasty notes. Medium body with a dry finish.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Dark mahogany color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Roast malt, coffee and caramel in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt and toffee. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

22oz bottle of the 2014 edition, weighing in at 8.5% abv. Pours a watery, but translucent deep brown with some foamy, off white head. Nose has a lot of chocolate and plenty of molasses, licorice too, some toast, a hint of booze, some dried fruit too, some cola. Flavor reminds me more of a milk stout that I would have though, some of that lacto sugar, molasses, less chocolate than the nose let on, a little toast, some distinct maraschino cherry. Full bodied, sticky finish.
