This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel malt backbone. This is a serious beer for serious beer aficionados. Oink!

65 cl bottle @ hotel room, San Diego. Aroma has marmalade and some ripe fruits. Also toffee. Flavour has resiny notes, wood, some toffee and caramel. Finishes with menthol and grapefruity hops. A bit disappointing but not bad.

Pours dark reddish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, resinous hops and chewy candy. Taste is sweet, hoppy and caramely with loads of toffee, resin, pine and chewy candy. Finish is malty, sweetish and caramely with some toffee, resinous hops and pine. Sweet but pretty hoppy barley wine.

Pours a clear reddish brown from a bottle. Aroma of cherry cordial, some oak and caramel. Pretty boozy. Bitter, astringent, and also slightly sweet in the mouth. Again, boozy, burns a little going down. A little much for me.

Bottle. A- Hoppy, caramel, dark fruits. A- Deep mahogany color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Very bitter, pine, caramel, dark fruits. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- Holy hop bomb! Did someone mix up my barleywine with a super imperial ipa. This was more bitter than a lot of ipas I’ve had. Just too over bearing for me, I like my barleywines smoother and fruitier not in your face intensely hoppy.

On tap at the Fred. Dark copper, with a small, filmy, off-white head and tons of lacing. Lots of caramel in the nose, with some notes of resin, pine, and some herbs. Very bitter, with a strong malty, sweet backbone. Heavy body, syrupy, astringent and chewy. This is a stick, overhopped mess of a beer.

Very smooth for a barley wine. Wonderful balance on palate. Amber pour, with good head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Some caramel in this. Very drinkable. Tap at Avery event at Churchkey.

Tap at Yellow Ape. Very leafy, dank, grassy hop nose with some light caramel hidden out back. Very bitter, very dank and hay-like. This is hugely hopped, but not in any way I really like. Barley gets completely left behind.
