The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

Bottle consumed in Holiday Inn. Deep red/brown pour with decent head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and Belgian spice. Belgian clone, tastes boozy, dark fruit, quite smooth, sweet. The guy in the shop raved about this but I cannot really see why. I am used to quality Belgian beers this is not up to their standard.

Yeasty nose with only faintest bit of malt and raisins cutting through. Cloudy orange with a few floaties, thin off white head. Full, syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet date syrup flavor with a bourbon edge. Faint woody notes. Not very good even if I did like quads.

Bottle. Poured dark amber with a creamy head. Aroma was full of dark fruits and molasses/caramel. Flavor was nice and complex with fruitiness and other sweet aspects. Also a slight metallic after taste.

Thick white head and a dark ruby body... but it was dark in the bar. Dark fruit aroma is really what most of the aroma smells like. The beer itself is really heavy and sweet. Lots of fruity flavors dominate the taste. Molasses is in there as well. There is a liqueur taste... or maybe brandy or something. So the alcohol is disguised through that, but as other reviewers have noted it is certainly there. Thick and syrupy feel on the mouth.

Flavor: Really nice complexity comes through as you drink it.
Palate: Full body, little creamy
Overall Impression: Enjoyable beer with some interesting complexity. Quads are definately one of my favorite styles of beer. This one has some fruity flavors, strong hint of raisins, hides the alcohol really well, you can hardly taste the 10%. Overall pretty enjoyable.

Bottle at Fins ... Thanks to Fin for a great weekend and some Real intersting beers ... Nice deep copper ... very vineous ... little plums and yeast in nose ... quite deep malty character ... again vine fruits and a lot of yeast and quite a lot of alcohol showing.

Picked this up in cafe/shop in Ribe, Denmark consumed at home with Craig, Stella and Loz 26-09-08 Pours mid amber with an off white head. This beer is quite rich and creamy in the mouth and very flavouful. The alcohol is quite warming but in no way harsh. There is a little bit of spiritiness on the nose, some almond and also some light spiciness, pretty good.

22 oz bottle. Pours amber with a medium white head that dissolves fairly quickly. Aroma is heavily bubble gum and bananas. Flavor is sweet, centrally the yeasty flavors of bubble gum, banana, apple, with hops adding some citrus and bitterness. A bit of caramel flavor and alcohol in there. Carbonation is a bit on the flat side.
