Black with a brown head - Roasted malt with some coffee in the aroma - Roasted malt body with a good coffee flavour and nice bitterness - The roasted malt with coffee and some chocolate notes goes into the finish - This was good

I don’t drink coffee but I do enjoy coffee beers, the only thing is I need to drink them early so as to avoid the caffeine keeping me up 😉 First of today’s beers is: Rip Current Java Storm Coffee Imperial Stout 10% The ABV listed on the Can took me by surprise as that makes this a pretty big beer! The beer is pitch black with a light tan head and a cocoa and dark berries coffee aroma. The taste gives you coffee, berries, cacao paste while the body is full and smooth. It was a bit rough at first but really improved as it warmed up. Having this again in 2021 (brewed in 2020), this beer is smoother than I recall with a smooth milk coffee flavor and it hides the ABV unbelievably well. Boosting it from 3.7 to 3.9

19th Jan 2018; part of a Flight at The Brewhouse, San Juan Capistrano. Black bodied, beige head. Heavy on the coffee esters and taste, not a lot else gets through the intensity of the coffee influence. If you like coffee, you'll like this. I just found it a little 'one dimensional' because of the coffee depth and I like a decent cup of coffee.

Draft @ the brewey's taproom, San Marcos. Clear very dark (but not entirely black) color. Beige head, not much. Aroma's: ground coffee, molasses, sweet. Retronasal it's roasted, coffee, sweetish, molasses, light red fruit. Flavor is above moderate sweet, roasted. Quite full bodied. Long finish with a lot os roast, almost ashy, moderate bitter.

12 oz can thanks to blipp’s FBW contest. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, chocolate. Pours a dark dark brown, nearly black, with a one finger beige head with decent retention and some lace. Taste is sweet and chocolaty, a little earthy, roasty, mild licorice. Tasty.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a nice bitter cold brewed coffee. Flavor is a decent coffee but this has a way thin mouthful for a Impy porter. Finish is again a nice roasted cold brewed coffee but there is very little malt complexity to this beer. It hides the alcohol well and the coffee is there, it is just way to thin on the mouthfeel for a Impy porter to give this a better score.
