Keg at Draft CG. It pours murky dark brown with minimal head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, cherry cola, ripe cherry, dull smoke, ash and earth. The taste is tart, tangy, earth roast, sour cherry, ripe berry, tannin, acidity, damp leaves, balsamic vinegar, cherry cola and charred stuff. Medium body and fine carbonation. OK, but a touch muddled and murky.

Keg at the Grunting Growler, Glasgow in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th May 2017 Pours dark brown with light beige head. This is quite a meaty beer but it’s immediately tart and sour but the beefy stockiness (Anna reckons marmite) is very prevalent. Like it the cherry comes through. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov16 3.8

On tap at Mother Kellys Bethnal Green. Dark brown ruby beer. Thin beige head. Kettle sour aroma. Cherry yoghurt. Ok fruit in mouth. It’s a kettle fruit sour. Just about as far away from Boon Kriek as you can get. Genuinely ive had enough of this fake stuff when the original is so much better and cheaper. Cherry yoghurt flavour is best thing about it. Everything else is hilarious. Good fruit. Poor everything else.

Keg at the EOE, 26/04/17. Reddish brown with a beige cap tinged with purple hues. Nose is tarte stoned fruits, red grape must, spice, damp wood, funk. Taste comprises cherry skins, barnyard, funk, damp cloth, hay bale, wood must, rotting oak. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid well balanced sour red ... shows you don’t need to go high boost to make this style work!
