It may sound nuts, but most ales with nutty flavors or aromas are made without any real nuts. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale is made with real Louisiana pecans. The natural oils from the nuts give the ale a light pecan finish and aroma. It’s wonderful paired up with both red meats and seafood - and no surprise it’s great with nuts too. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale, crack one open for yourself today.

Bottle. Sour nutty malt aroma. Clear amber with a huge beige head, good retention, nice lacing. Caramel and nutty malt flavor with a light grassy hops finish. Light body, moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with an off white head. Nose/taste of sweet malt, pecan and cheap grains. Nose is more sweet malt and pecan pie, but the taste falls flat with the cheap grains. Light body.

So it seems like a good idea, mixing pecan oils with a mild amber ale, but Abita’s Pecan Harvest never gets off the ground. For starters, the base beer, a bland, overcarbonated amber ale, leaves much to be desired. But the super-mild hint of pecan shell on the finish serves as the major disappointment; I really wanted more, to give this brew the heft it needs. Oh well. I can always drink Levitation and eat roasted pecans. (2008)

Light nutty, malt, aroma. Flavor had some light sweet malts, a touch of caramel, some pecan, and some sugars. While it wasn’t as powerful as I wanted in the pecan department it did go with a slice of apple pie quite nicely.

Pours orange red into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes to mottle surface. Sweet nut aromas. Dry with upfront pecan turning to a slightly sour caramel finish. Tastes like it has a higher abv than 5%.

Pour is a orange with a small white head. Aroma is almost nothing some grain that’s all. Flavor does have a nutty aftertaste so i’ll at least give it that. Nothing spectacular and one was plenty.

I enjoyed this beer. Pour from bottle at the Manchester Pub in NYC. Nice amber color with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor was modestly sweet, malty, with hints of pecan and caramel. Smooth and slightly creamy. Clean finish and pleasant aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a coppery brown and has a bit of a head, but not much. Pecans and nuts dominate the nose, but it has a bit of toffee and autumn leaves, too. Flavor and mouthfeel are both prtty light, but pretty nice. Lots of nuts and medium maltiness here, but it still is pretty mild.
