The original Piraat beer, launched in 1988 as a kind of pale version of Gulden Draak Classic (with the same yeasts).

From the brewery's website:
Set sail!

330ml bottle from Lidl, Darlington. Golden colour, big white foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of fruity apricot, yeasty. Taste is bready malt, sweetish, candy, with tangy fruity yeasty notes, and boozy with some spicy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry boozy finish. Nicely drinkable.

0,33 l bottle from Lidl. Dark red golden in the glass, mighty foamy head. Some sour fruits with sugar sweetness on the nose. Taste starts malty with a load of brown sugar. Some alcoholic sharpness but drinkable due to the sweetness. So, its a nice balanced brew.

11.2oz bottle. Somehow never rated this one. Big, bready, full bodied, classic beer. Unfiltered amber-tan body. Foamy off-white head. Drinks somewhere between a Tripel and Quad. Big, sugary, sweet. Boozy finish. Classic.

Bottle from Lidl.Amber in colour, with a slight haze and billowy, off-white, head. Aroma of red berries, candy sugar, Belgian yeats and a hint of spice. Flavour had more fruit and spice, ripe and honeyed malts, leading to a warming, moderately bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Smell- weak malt, faint Belgian notes. Foam- thin, soft, malty , weak hops, dust. Head is medium-sized, yellow-white color. Appearance- amazing bottle cap, love it. Clear orange color, no carbonation. From - snifter Taste - malt, Belgian, caramel, sweetness, yeast. Quite sweet, caramel and fruity beer with all tastes being muffled and calm. There is some hoppy aftertaste too. Very nice one.
