Tasting Notes: This gold medal winning New Zealand pilsner derives from the traditional Czech style, brewed with pilsner malt and cold-fermented with lager yeast. We use New Zealand hops and put most of them late in the brew to promote more hop flavour and aroma than a traditional pilsner. A crisp and clean beverage with a beautiful balance of bitterness and sweet malt.

Awards: Trophy winner of Best International Lager and Gold medal winner Australian International Beer Awards 2019, Silver NZ Brewers Guild Awards 2017 and 2018,

Food pairing: Pairs well with spicy food as the hop crispness cuts through the spices and the sweet malt balances against the heat of chilli. This malt forward beer also pairs well with grilled meat or fish. Try it with your next Chinese inspired meal as the crisp clean style of this beer balances well with salt and fat.

330ml can; BB 4th Nov 2020. Drank on 9th Feb 2020 at my parents. Golden body, clean and clear, on top a white crown; this soon faded away. Hop centric Pilsener/Lager, dry finish. Refreshing and thirst quenching.

[33cl can from Beer 52.] A bright golden amber pour with a tight white head and lots of carbonation; gentle passion fruit aroma; sharp gooseberry and passion fruit taste and a sweet biscuity malt body; but unfortunately let down by the lack of finish.

Can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light toffee, yeasty, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a light toffee malt, grainy, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Plenty going on and a decent session beer.

Can. Gold with a large white head that settles to an inch. 3+ Aroma of crackers, grass, melon, some (overripe) gooseberries. Sweet with slightly honeyed bread and crackers, Kiwi hops that are not quite as vibrant as suggested bu the aroma. Off dry finish with moderate bitterness. It's an OK pils but half-hearted by NZ standards.

Pint on tap at Bitter Phew, Sydney. Sour grainy nose. Pale yellow beer with thin white head. Laces well. Low carbonation. Grainy sweet taste. Short bitter grainy finish, some pepper. Nice Pils, solid.

On tap at Cove. Pours pale yellow. Peach, lemon, elderflower, lots of malt vinegar, touch of sugar. Bit too acidic and not crisp enough for me.
