On the nose are aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and bacon. The palate combines the salty smoked bacon with roasted malts. It finishes strong and bitter.

Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Very light smoke presence. Medium body, somewhat creamy. Finish is quite bitter.

bottle from Bierkompass. Black, no head, aroma of roasted malts and lots of coffee. Flavours of coffee dominate, shy chocolatey hints, there’s hardly any smoke flavours detectable. Because of the name I was looking forward to a very smoky beer - however, this was a very solid stout-like brew.

33 cl. bottle. Pitch black with a small, tanned head. Roasted aroma with smoke, malts, bacon (!), licorice and green, unripe coffee beans. Taste is bitter and hard roasted. Full body with a good, creamy texture - most be the oatmeal. Long lasting, roasted finish with bacon, light smoke and coffee. Actually, I wanted - and remembered in a sentimental manner - more bacon in this one when this beer was brewed by Nøgne Ø. Still a good smoker.

330ml bottle shared at home. Pours jet black with a thin tan head, lovely lacing, a treat to see moving around in a big glass. Aromas are coffee, liquorice, and supermarket own-brand Frazzles. Hint of peat there too. The taste lets it down a wee bit, as the coffee gives it a metallic note. Full bodied and creamy; soft carbonation. Glad to have tried it.

Tap at mikkeller. Pitch black, lace. Big coffee, chocolate, smoke nose. Maybe bacon, maybe just smoke. Great nose. Coffee, bacon, smoke, hops, chocolate, licorice flavors. Very comllex, dry roasty bitter finish with smoke. Rathernlight body. Very nice.

35 DKK from Kihosk. 7.5% a motor oil pour with a orange-ish head. Smokey coffee with a hint of bacon. Smooth full mouthfeel with a mostly coffee flavor & possibly a hint of smoke. I am not getting any bacon notes at all so kind of disappointing but it isn’t as pronounced as in the regular beer geek breakfast which I like.

Bottle: Literally black, mid-sized loose tanned head, coffee and smoked to toasted malt in the bitter-sweet nose, solid dryish bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, soft - but some alginate-like jellies found; robust and lingering dry coffeeish (illusions of freshly ground coffee) and fruity finish. O.K., but it doesn’t demand a repetition…

Bottle shared with (and great courtesy of) the Bergen tasting crew. The colour is black and has a brown colour. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, soy sauce, licorice and smoke. Lots of the same in the taste with the addition of ash and oak. The mouth feel is rich but with lumps, and has a lasting medium bitterness. The last part of the beer has a lot of jelly lumps. Not pleasant. Apart from this its a well-balanced and nice beer. A bit more faint smoky tones than expected.
