Our Bärentöter is a strong crossover between Gose and Bock. This harmoniously complex beer is produced using an opulent mixture of six special malts with additions of coriander, orange peel salt, and a touch of cinnamon. A lactic acid fermentation is complemented by saltiness and malt body to create a perfectly balanced beer. On this basis fine fruit and spice aromas can unfold, making this Gose Bock something very special.

Bottle. A clear deep amber colored beer with a small, dense, light beige head. A mostly fruity one, with notes of bread. Caramel too, but not in a sweetish way. Coriander is missing. Some dried apricot. It's medium to full bodied and soft on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Dry and lightly tart, with a lemony flavor, salt, caramel and dried apricot. Some sweetish flavors towards the finish, candy and white sugar, but it's not really sweet. Didn't taste or smell any coriander or orange peel, but it's a nice and quite refreshing beer. BTW, my bottle was five months past BB date, but still fine. 180306

From the bottle. The head fizzes away almost immediately. First ever „sour gose bock“ so I‘m not entirely sure what to expect. Aroma is apple slices with a dash of coriander and cinnamon. Taste is as expected sour and full of fruit, mostly apricot but with citrus undertones and then a bit of spice on top. Body is thin but not watery with a moderate to prickly carbonation. Actually pretty good but not among my favorite styles.

Poured at Shelton Festival, hazy gold with medium frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is citrus, wheat, sea salt. Thin body, wheat, citrus, light tartness, nice salty finish, very good.

Bottle from Local Swap, many thanks. Clear amber colour, short lasting head. Med-light clean lacto sourness. Other than that relatively clean beer, thin bodied, with malt and hops in background. Good but not great.

Bottle. Dark orange with a small foamy white head. Very mild aroma of minerals, salt, some coriander and really sour lemons. Taste is very fruity (lemons and oranges), tart, zesty and sour. Then the cinnamon kicks in and creates a little illusion of chocolate. Short salty finish. Medium carbonation. Nice mouthfeel. Very balanced. Well done, refreshing and tasty.

Tangy, slightly fruity, minimally buttery and nutty, malty aroma, a touch of morello cherry, orange zest, juniper berry and Jamón Ibérico. Taste is slightly tart and tangy, fruity and minimally nuttily malty, slightly salty, minimally citrusy and buttery, hints of salted lemon, some orange peel, morello cherry, a cautious touch of cinnamon; oily-watery texture, lingering, tart and minimally salty finish.

0.5 l bottle from 'Rudat', bottled in August 2016, cellared for about a year. Clear, deep reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, spicy and quite fruity aroma of sherry, coriander, strawberries and a touch of sauerkraut. Quite sweet, just moderately sour, spicy and slightly fruity taste of coriander, sauerkraut, sherry, strawberries and traces of rhubarb, followed by a short, slightly tart, spicy and moderately minerally-salty finish. Medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, almost flat. Very interesting, and astonishingly tasty as well, rather sweet for a Gose while its typical flavours are all there. Overall highly quaffable and refreshing, I like it a lot!

0,5l bottle at home. BB 05/2018. redish / orange hazy color, medium big off-white head. smells ripe fruits, tobacco, grains, dough, green herbal, candy, light sweetness. ok smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes salty, light to medium sour, ripe fruits, candy, bit earthy, caramel, citrus, light green apples, peppery, tobacco. finishes medium sour with notes of ripe fruits, candy and some citrus notes. okish beer, liked the taste a bit better than the smell, unfortunatly flavours are all over the place, finishes has a nice dry and sourness to it though. overall just decent.
