A 13 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with dark sugars and molasses.
Big, overhyped imperial stouts, amirite? This one on fleek tho. The most amazing collaboration ever with Casita Cerveceria.

Tap. Black color with beige head. Aroma is meaty, tobacco, soy sauce, malt vinegar. Taste is again meaty, soy sauce, chocolate, thick viscous mouthfeel. Medium carbonation, very boozy. An unusual ImpStout.

12 oz can. Pours black with a moderate dark tan head. Aromas of sugary roasted malts, coffee liqueur, and a bit of coconut. Flavors of rich dark syrupy chocolate, black coffee, light nuts, and dry roasted malts. A bit of alcohol adds heat. Very good.

4oz pour at Wicked Bloom pours a thick, viscous black with some sudsy, brown head. Nose has what you expect, heavy molasses, heavy licorice, some chocolate, some malt, light coffee bean. Flavor is the same, thick with molasses and chocolate, some fig, licorice, toast. Full bodied, sticky finish.

12oz can. Pours a real thick brown black. Dark brown head, thinnish. Big, sweet, massive, warming finish. Quite drinkable for the ABV, but also comes across a little sugary and thin, at least for that big of a beer. Solid value. Drinks a lot like Evil Twin Stouts...not as much depth as the real thing.

Soy sauce and toasted grain nose, not strong. Black, medium brown head, good lacing. Molasses, soy sauce, charred oak. Fudge and walnut finish, but dry. Full body, soft carbonation, warm.

Can drunk 9/25/16.
Jet black, inky body has a rapidly fleeting, dark tan head atop. Clarity seems low.
The nose is full of dark fruits, baker’s chocolate, very minimal fudge and light vanilla giving a very dry impression overall. I do appreciate the fruitiness, acidity and dryness but there’s the inevitable alcohol note you get at this level. Some light oxidation or very strong malt breadiness lingers on the end as well.
Malty, of course, though about as dry as you can safely go at this high of an abv, with very good attenuation. Roast, black pepper, lots of licorice and baker’s chocolate nearly overload the palate with dryness but some light fudgey-vanilla notes emerge to bring a grudging balance. Alcohol pretty under control for this level but still apparent and contributing to the dryness. Prunes, plums, dark chocolate and light fudge linger long. The carbonation could use a bit of tightening; as is it’s a bit loose and watery at points. Surprisingly nice and polished, and dry, but the extra 3-4% abv here is completely unnecessary.
