27th May 2015: on-tap at 101 Tap House, Oceanside. Decent Pilsner all round. Golden, clear and bright with a full white head. Crisp feel to the brew even if the aroma (like most Lager/Pilsners) was weak and thin. Mild malty lead over the hops in the flavouring: nothing spectacular or outstanding within the brew, just a very refreshing beer and really pleased I came across it while out in California.

12 oz. bottle. Pours golden and slightly cloudy. Has a compact, white, head that dissipates moderately. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is fairly bitter, which goes against what you would expect from the aroma. It is very hoppy with a medium body and slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is average. The finish is all hops. I’m not a big fan of super-hoppy beer and this one doesn’t impress me either. However, I do like the aroma and the texture of the beer.
Would I buy this beer again? Probably not, considering how many other beers are out there that I like better. If a friend served these at a BBQ, would I drink one? Absolutely, as I can see how a cold one of these would hit the spot on a warm, sunny day.

Bottle. A- Corn, grains, subtle hops, slight citrus. A- Golden color, hazy liquid, minimal white head. T- Subtle bitterness, corn, cereal, lemon. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- I’ve heard good things about this and honestly, I didn’t know why, it’s a pilsener. After trying, I can agree that it’s a decent beer and the added subtle hop notes are nice but it’s still nothing that excited me. Pretty standard, good for it’s style I guess, but not that great of a beer.

12 ounce bottle. Honey gold color. Rocky beige head with nice lacing. Grainy malt nose with a citrus hop bouquet. Flavor is wonderfully complex hops that are nicely supported by the rich malt backbone. The citrus hops are firm and bitter. Nicely balanced. Very German-like in character.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of straw, herbs and lemon zest. Flavour of grain, Parma Violets and sorrel. Dry fnish. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A clean, fresh Pilsener.

Mandag i annen feb-15, den første på det som skulle vise seg å bli en kveld med bare gode (og til dels fremragende øl): klar strågul, lite skum. Lett bitterhet med akkurat passe sødme. Elegant.
