Bottle. Why do west coast breweries have to put tons of hops in everything? Might have been a good wit. I guess we'll never know.

Nice hoppy wit, adding on a firm hop bitterness to the usual spicy witbier notes. Starts mild, then gains a clove-laced sweetness before the a surprising IBU-centered finish leads to a bready pinecone fade. Good, but needs a little more soul.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear orange color with a medium white head. A soft perfume and citrus nose. The flavor is big sweet citrus, lemons, bready, a bit of dry yeast. Quite hoppy. Very smooth and tasty.

Bottle from Discount. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a finger of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Light grassy hops with a touch of citrus but really the yeast carries the nose for the most part. Slightly grainy wheat with a touch of grass on the palate. Bottle sent for review. What I have poured here is a hazy beer, with a note of gold or brass to it, hazy of course, under a rocky head. The glass helps concentrate a nose of easily discernible West Coast hops that are not quite in there for the Wit style, but certainly for the Lagunitas style. The taste rolls in more like a pale ale than anything Belgian style. With most wheat beers, I can claim that the wheat in the malt gives it a note of spiciness, but that is hard to track here just because of the extra hop bill. The beer’s mouthfeel, though, is a little thicker than many summer wheats, and it has a touch of honey, or extra malt, that make this even less of a beer to have in the middle of your weekend outdoor chores. You usually expect a citrusy note just from the yeast in a wit, without having to emphasize it with a lemon slice. But Stoopid Wit has just a touch of citrus, mainly from the hops, but after a few sips, there’s a bitter aftertaste on the tongue that’s more in line with a German noble hop, or the rowdy bitterness of Northern brewers. This bottle does have the traditional yeast dregs at the bottom for further conditioning. As I swirled the last of the bottle into my glass, the beer became cloudier, of course. The taste became a bit brighter, like a German lager, and just a little more savory. At least there’s no "dead yeast" character here, which probably stems from having the beer fresh.

Bottle from Total Wine & More, St Petersburg. Mid-gold with orange hues, slightly cloudy. A bit of white head and a bit of lacing. Lemon juice, homemade applesauce, grass and ground coriander in the aroma. Sweetness in the initial taste with the chalky spiciness of coriander to the fore. Bitterness appears more in the latter half of the sip with a medium to long finish. Lemongrass in the aftertaste. Pretty impressive and enjoyable recipe.

Bottle. Hazy golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of pine, clove, toasted grain, plastic, bubble gum, light banana. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Wit beer was not meant to be this bitter — the taste of bitter spice and bitter wheat. Not a drain pour, just odd flavors.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s Menominee Falls, 9/3/16. Hazy orange, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of lemon, lime and wheat. The taste is lime, wheat, a bit of pine and spice. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden pale orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity wheat malty tropical fruit hoppy aroma. Fruity wheat malty spicy tropical fruit hoppy flavor with weak bretty hints. Has a fruity wheat malty spicy tropical fruit hoppy finish.
