Bottleshare at Matteo’s. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Fluffy dark malts, some dark malt cream. Smooth coffee mid. Spicy fruits, a trace of something like ginger. Smooth tangy fruits finish. Nice.

Bottle from Clacton Craft. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malts, charred wood, dark chocolate, liquorice, slight menthol note and coffee grounds. The taste is rich roasted malt, toasty, charred wood, umami, liquorice, tobacco, coffee grounds, cracked black pepper, dark chocolate and some warming alcohol with a dry, charred finish. Medium - full body and fine, foamy carbonation. A touch harsh perhaps. I do however prefer this to version 1.
