Dark brown verging on black with an intensely fruity aroma of prunes, raisins and light spice. Full bodied and softly textured. The taste is treacle, plums and prunes. I've seriously never had a beer that was so prune like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bouteille 33cl, wow, never saw this Huyghe beer coming thanks to its bottle design, likely alias as well, see Delirium Nocturnum.

Bottle thanks to Deanso. Almost clear reddish brown with beige head. Lots of herbs, licorice, figs, typical Hughes marzipan, light spices, sweet brown sugar, old wood. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. Not good.

Sampled from bottle at "This is not really deanso’s last THT"-tasting. Hazy dark amber. Sweet malts, berries, medium sweet and light vegetal bitter.

Commissioned ’massieve ale’ from Huyghe with very thick and frothy, ’papery’ lacing, dense, pale yellowish beige head, clear dark chestnut brown robe with ’rusty’ amberish hue. Aroma of caramel, cold tea, raw red cabbage, light DMS (cooked vegetable), coriander, burnt sugar, dried fig, elderberry, liquorish and unmistakable iron-based head stabilizing agent, as in most of Huyghe’s beers. Sweetish onset with sourish balance, hints of dried peach, blackberry and some date, strongish carbo (a tad much for the style, in fact), very caramelly and toffeeish, straightforward malt sweetness with a toasted bitterish edge and some nuttiness, metallic due to the added iron, liquorish-like spicy note, herbal hop bitterish hint in the end but remaining primarily caramelly, with the aforementioned toasted bitterishness and a vague glow of warming alcohol. Straightforward ’strong dubbel’, not very inspired and suffering from iron in the same way as most of Huyghe’s strong beers.

Draught @ Namur Beer Festival 2016. Aroma has ripe fruits and sweet licorice. Flavour has funky yeasty tones and ripe fruits. Foamy palate. Unusual but good and balanced. Alcohol is present but does not disturb that much.

Tartós, hatalmas hab, sötétbarna szín. Tipikus belga dubbeles illat.
