From a massive Mikkeller backlog. Most of these ratings are very old. Beware :) Pours brownish black with reddish hues and a medium offwhite head. Aroma is full of sweet raspberries, malty, chocolate, lots of bourbon, vanilla, oak. Taste is malty, sweet raspberries, tart berry notes, bourbon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, light licorice, dark fruits.

On tap at Håndverksølfestivalen 2017. It’s an almost clear reddish dark brown beer with a nice off-white head. It’s lightly oxidized on the nose, with dried fruits, some caramel and toffee, and bread notes. And raspberries of course. It’s full bodied and warming, quite smooth, with lots of flavor. Raspberry, caramel, dark dried fruits, alcohol, bread notes, vanilla hints and oxidation. Some booze too. Lasting finish with the raspberry more evident than initially. Lots of deliciousness going on here, but it’s a bit rough and warming. 170610

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a small, lacing off-white head. Tart, berry-like aroma with a hint of Bourbon. Medium body, very tart berry notes and a distinct Bourbon edge. The base beer however seems to be pretty much annihilated - it could've been pretty much anything. The massive tartness cannot all be from the berries, clearly there's some barrel infection going on as well. Maybe it has developed later since the beer's description doesn't mention it at all. It kinda works since the Bourbon also mellows it quite a bit. But a very challenging beer. 281117

On tap at Mikkeller tap takeover, Cardinal. Nearly black colour, beige head. Aroma of malts, raspberries, brown bread, caramel, molasses. Ripe raspberries are very distinct in the fairly sweet flavour. Also caramel, molasses and oak. A bit too much of the good stuff.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger (Mikkeller tap takeover). Pours hazy dark copper with little beige head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, ripe fruits/berries, sherry, ethanol, dark bread, pepper. Tastes slightly sour with some sweetness and umami. Medium bodied, dry. Smooth mouthfeel, sour finish. Extremely complex and a brilliant aperitif.
