10cl on tap at Grünerløkka mat- of mikrobryggfestival. Close to black with a modest brown head. Roasty aroma with cocoa, hints of coffee and caramel, dark fruits and malt. Sweet, but we’ll balanced and lots of flavour. Delicious sipper!

Draught at the BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Collaboration stout with chillis. Thin, deep beige head over a jet black beer. Lovely, enticing bouquet of cocoa, espresso, medium dry sherry, candied dates, hint of dried chillis, figs, wood, vanilla, balsamic vinegar. Soft and thick, creamy mouthfeel, light date sweetishness with sourish balance, a ton of big chocolatey maltiness evolving into roasted coffee bitterness, mouth-lining, with adorable woody tannins in the end, a hint of warming but nonetheless well-hidden alcohol and a touch of chilli heat, but balanced enough not to become overpowering. Epic stout, if you ask me, but then I’ve been a sucker for this style for years.
