Ola Dubh 18yr tasting notes: Ola Dubh 18 has aromas of espresso and caramel. The initial whisky hit makes way for more delicate notes of dark chocolate, tangy oak and dried fruit to shine through. The smooth and silky mouth feel and flavours of wood and smoke lead to a long warming finish.
Hops: East Kent Goldings, Fuggles, Galena
Malts: Lager Malt, Pinhead Oats, Roast Barley

Bottle.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, minimal fizzy head.
A- Smoke, woody, damp, cocoa.
F- Smoke, peat, mild brine, cocoa, woodsy, umami.
T- Medium body, slightly thin texture, average carbonation, complex finish.
O- This was so good. A perfect marriage of scotch barrel and beer and happiness. This is the best yet of the vintages and I've had the 12, 16 and 18. Well done.

Bottle drunk while catching up on Stranger Things before the final season. Super dark with a thin brown head. Sweet brown sugar nose with light earthy peat notes. More rounded and smooth than the 12y and possibly less oxidized. Light foresty campfire, toasted black and chocolate malt, very big flavor with solid, matching bitterness. Excellent!

Creamy off white with lots of lacing on a still black coloured body.
Malt, chocolate & whisky aroma.
Medium bodied, soft on the tongue with a cloying back.
Dark chocolate, raisin, toffee & whisky tastes with bitter finish.
Nice but not as smooth & rounded as the "16 Year Old" version.

Like the other dubhs, there is a big aroma of oak, and vanilla, but there is a big dufference in the intensity of these flavors compared to the 30 and 40. The roastiness seems more upfront, more like a robust porter. A thick soy aftertaste, and lots of bitter coffee.
