Bottle from beerplanet.eu. Almost dark color with no head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, barnyard, wood, ashy notes. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, ash, vinous hints, wood. Coffee bitterness in strong alcoholic finish. Nice imperial stout, although not best from Black Hole beers.

Bottle at home. Has a black colour with a small beige head. Sweet aromas of leather, wood, lots of oak, juniper, earth and hint of vanilla. Oak also present in the flavour with a fantastic ending with coffee, dark chocolate and chocolate truffles. Slick and smooth mouthfeel. Bitterness = light+. A real powerful package in a glass and a terrific beer.

Bottled 375ml (Beer Hunters, vintage 2010, BB 180314)
Pitch black color, small beige head. Toasted malty, rye bready and slightly raisiny aroma, a bit sherry-like. Medium to full-bodied. Chocolaty, vanilla, raisins, sweet dark bread flavor. Not much actual red wine tartness here found. Lovely aged Black Hole.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Black appearance with a brown head and pretty decent carbonation. Faint grape/red wine, roasty/charred malty, slightly ashy aroma. A lot less ash and spiciness than the white wine and base version. Fairly fruity, roasty, dark charred chocolate malty, somewhat smoky flavor that’s way more smooth than the others than I’ve had.

Bottle. Pours pitch black, with a dark, creamy head. Aroma is coffee, with notes of syrup and chocolate. The flavour is a bit more complex, with a sweet coffeeishness (!), and a vinous oakines from barrel storage. There’s also a good deal of dark fruits, and a light note, but not much considering the ABV, of alcohol.

375ml bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Full big creamy dense light brown head on top of a pitch black colored beer. Smell malts, lightly coffee, caramel, some hops, lightly roasty, some chocolate, lightly earth, wood and vertainly influences of wine. Taste dark malts, light to medium roastyness, some alcohol though not too much, some coffee, dark chocolate, bitter and again some wood and red wine influences. The red wine influences are more clearly present in the finish. Medium carbonation, medium to full body.

Pitch black, opague colour with a big light brown head. Smells wood, cork, coffee and chocolate. Tastes chocolate, coffee, roasty, red wine, wood and even some peat. First the coffee and chocolate kicks in, then the red wine and then the long lasting chocolate, roasty taste again. I don?t really like the red wine part, but other than that it?s great. Full body, great carbo.

On tap at Night after Monsters. Pours a dark brown almost black with medium creamy tan head. The aroma is red wine grape and roast. Thin mouthfeel with alcohol and light smoke finish. Very good Imperial stout from Mikkeller.

05/01/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (375ml bottle). Bevuta al Mikkeller Beer Festival. Nera, densa, quasi impenetrabile, leggera schiuma color cappuccino poco persistente. Al naso è cioccolatosa, liquorosa, un po’ sgraziata, con note di alcol evidentissime. In bocca è cioccolatosa, caffettosa, della botte vi sono poche tracce. Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa, carbonazione soft. Discreta imperial stout, ma nulla più.
