Thin brown head. Opaque black body. Strong chocolatey fruity aroma with minty earthy notes. Dry-sweet earthy chocolatey taste with fruity resiny coffee notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel with some heat. Dryish alcoholic dark chocolate aftertaste with nougat and fruit notes. Nice, really lovely chocolate character, but too musty and dense, and the traces of red wine are a bit distracting. Also, too much alcohol flavour. (0.375l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

375ml bottle from Bierkompass

Pours pitch black with a tiny bubbly brown head. Aroma has notes of red wine, roasted malts, berries and ash. Taste is quite roasty with a lot of red wine and wooden notes, hints of smoke, ash, malts and hops. Finish is quite warming and slightly hoppy. Nice, quite tasty and well balanced. Red wine notes fit this surprisingly well.

Tap Gingerman as part of flight. Huge frothy head and beautiful dark fruit aromas. Taste is of rich chocolate cake and u get the wood and for me Pinot noir. The red wine softens it, this is delicious brew

Keg at BrewDog Camden. It pours very dark brown, with a decent dark tan head. The nose is roasted malt, tar, wood, alcohol, salty liquorice, tangy fruit, coffee and jam. The taste is salted caramel, liquorice, big alcohol burn, toffee, jammy fruit, charred wood, tar, petroleum, smoke, red wine and treacle. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Yum.

Pours black into snifter. Mocha head with medium retention pancakes as it recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet dark caramel, chocolate, oak and cherry aromas. Full with front to back chocolate, espresso and oaked red wine. Lasting hot oak finish.

Bottle. Pitch black with no head. Very nice aroma of dark chocolate, oak barrel, licorice, something sweet and notes of red wine. The taste was not as good as the aroma but still very good. Surprisingly "light" body. Long aftertaste with notes of alcohol.

bottle@Kulminator - new/2011 edition: A: pitch-black with a lovely beige head S: roasted malt, roasted coffee, campfire remnant, whiff of burned rubber, old oak, slight sourness, T: roasted & burned malts, very strong, very bitter roasted coffee, non-eatable berries, sour, slightly vinous aftertaste, harsh wood, liquorice & slightly boozy aftertaste, nice, raw stuff, only slight downside is that the body feels a bit watery
