This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Comes with an opaque, black color and a nice tan head. Nose is sweet, lots of roasted malts, dried fruits. Taste is herbal bitterness, strong coffee with an sweet-hoppy finish.

Tasty coffee stout, richer and more decadent than the ABV implies, with a hearty dose of coffee cherry, anise, char, unsweetened chocolate, molasses, and a hint of dark fruit. Slight caramel sweetness comes through on the back end, along with a mild cola note. Finishes with a lingering cascara tang and lasting bitterness. Nice pint.

Powerful roast accents, subtle black fruits, oatmeal, molasses, earth and shades of burnt fudge make up the bulk of this very dashing olfactory. The medium-sized mocha-colored foam is quite dense and covers the black and opaque liquid. Strong roasted accents grab the mouth and continue until the finish, bringing an unusual roasting bitterness. Accents of molasses and light black fruits are also perceived but it is the strong notes of black coffee that predominate. The body is full and the texture round and silky. Moderately high carbonation. The addition of coffee makes this oatmeal stout extremely strong in bitterness while keeping all its velvety and fullness in the mouth.

33cl bottle (bottled 22/08/2016, BBF: 22/08/2026) from Yeme (Tomasikova street) in Bratislava as my #5999. F: huge, dark tanned, good retention. C: black, opaque. A: dark malts, coffee, light roasted tones, dark dried fruits, bit nutty, dark bread crust. T: full malty base, roasted tones, a lot of coffee, dark dried fruits, bit nutty, dry on the palate, dark bitter chocolate, long lasting harmonic bitterness, soft carbonation, very good, fully enjoyed but still nowadays I expected something more sophisticated.

Bottle from Parkvillan, Åre. It has quite a bold coffee profile but otherwise I found it to have a sikcly thickness. I wasn't a huge fan and slightly confused by high rating. Aroma was plain.
