Our OG Imperial IPA, Dreadnaught ups the ante with intense citrus hop aromas, a huge malt body, and a crisp finish. Notes of pine, mango, and pineapple are balanced by A strong malt bill which creates a wonderful partner to the strong hop bitterness.

#2450. Courtesy of tderoeck. Thx! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG II. Bottled during 04/2013. Bright orange with a white head. Nose is sweet grapefruit, passion fruit, touch exotic fruits, light malt backbone & slightly starting to fade. Taste is bitter grapefruit, very dry, spices, bitter citrus, herbs, light sweet malts, quite heavily bitter. Substantial body. Solid IIPA, I enjoyed it but I don’t really get the hype. The profile is not unique, just standard USA IIPA and it is not the best made example I have had.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBSG II. One of my big time wants thanks to tderoeck. Huge thanks Tim! Clear orange color, small to medium sized white to off - white head. Smell malts, oranges, lightly grapefruit and hops. Taste malts, hops, moderately grapefruit, medium to heavy bitter. Long lingering bitterness in the finish with a touch of fruityness. Medium to full body and carbonation. Well, it’s a very nice beer, but (maybe because of huge expectations) it’s not the gigantic 4+ I had hoped it would be. Still, I would drink this everyday if I had the chance.

22 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy bright orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, peach, pineapple, floral, grass, light caramel, light pine, and floral earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and great strength. Taste of tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Light floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of big tangerine, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, floral, grass, pine, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops flavors with a light-moderate malt balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, slick, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warning noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA! Fantastic complexity and balance of citrus and tropical hop flavors with a moderate malt balance; and very smooth and fairy crisp to sip on for the gravity. A highly enjoyable offering.

Zeebra Extreme Beer Festival - Clear, dark blond. Aroma of caramelised tropical fruit. Quite sticky and sweet. Flavour is overly bittersweet. It doesn’t drink so well.

Tap at Mikkeller & Friends. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is rich and hoppy. A sign of things to come. The flavour is strong bitter, rich and hoppy too. There is some liqourice bitterness, but what makes this such a great beer is that the the bitterness does not dominate and the palate is super smooth. A classic for sure which does deserve its rating.

Bottle at home - 23/11/12 (thanks to George in NC). Pours a mid amber colour with a big frothy white/off white head. Thins substantially after a minute or so, but retains a decent level and lacing follows. Nose is fresh hops, pine, caramel malt, bitter grapefruit, mango. Tastes of bitter grapefruit, bitter pine, caramel malts, light biscuit, mango, some mineral notes, touch of mango, light citrus, very fine sugars, resinous hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, bitter piney finish. Excellent DIPA - alcohol is well disguised, flavours well balanced, all round great beer. Wish I could try this side by side with Pliny and Boneyard Hop Venom ! A ’Hyped beer’ @ allegedly.com that really delivered for me !

Bottle as shown. Pours a hazy yellow gold with small frothy off white head thats lasts awhile. The aroma is a strong floral hop and citrus. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet citrus hop and wheat with light bitterness on the finish. Hides alcohol well making it easy to drink, a very good IIPA from Three Floyds.
