Moveable Type is a farmhouse ale created in the tradition of an old world saison. We began by brewing a provision strength ale, which we then cellared for over a year with Brettanomyces. During the months of cellaring, our saison yeast and the Brettanomyces worked together to create a beer rich in tropical fruit notes, balanced by an underlying earthiness. Bottle conditioned, the beer will continue to evolve. This movement in flavor is something we love about farmhouse ales, like a printer’s type, periodically reset to tell a new story.

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: golden yellow color with a slight haziness to it and a two finger white foamy head which took it's time to dissipate and once it did, some mellow lace appeared
Aroma: Bretty/sour tones, slight funk, earthy to grassy tones, light straw/hay, some pineapples and mangoes
Flavor: meshes those prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to tart and semi-vinous quality; finishes semi-dry with a touch of funk, pineapples and earthiness
Texture: medium bodied, leaning into being a sipper - hmmmm, slightly; light smoothness with a little bit of tart to funky character strolling over the tongue
Overall: pretty nicely done saison I believe I could return to.

Bottle shared in Portland - sourced from the brewery. Pours hazy gold, effervescent, with a frothy, white head. Mild funk in the nose, pale bread, tangerines. Light sweet flavour, somewhat drying, pale biscuits, lightly tangy tangerines, a little musty hay. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Dry finish, a little citric tang, more funky, hay bales. Solid.

500 ml Bottle spilt 2 ways. Thanks going to Adamchandler. Aroma is mild Brettanomyces, oak, honey, citrus notes. Flavor is brighter with floral then mild funky yeast. Medium bodied, with a grassy, funky finish. Nice Bretty character, proper.

Bottle picked up at the brewery a few months ago. Pretty hazy, 2 finger head. looks great in the glass. Really solid aroma, funk, leather and citrus. After taste is really soap heavy. Mildly tart, it has a lot of citrus flavors, bread dough and yeasty throughout. It's not overly complicated but a very tasty saison.

Bottled 8/9/15, drunk 12/21/16.
Pours a brassy-gold with light copper and a medium-sized white head with moderate retention.
A fair amount of pepper phenols are notable, alongside yellow apples, nectarines and a bit of caramel and traces of wheat. It’s got the makings of a good saison, and there’s no big sour or tart notes to throw it off, but there just isn’t quite enough yeast expression and the beer tapers off in to a weak, caramel-laden finish.
Malty again in flavor with a light carbonation and reasonably soft texture. Vaguely grassy, fruity and sweet. Passable, but nothing particularly elegant or expressive going on here as far as good saisons are concerned.
