A very traditional British brown ale. It has a distinctive brown color and has moderate maltiness and a medium body. At 4.3% ABV, and its unassuming flavor, this is a definite session beer. The overall impression is of a sweet, moderately malty mild ale.

Draft in Saratoga Springs. Standard brow pour. A bit overly roasted + nutty average at best.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with small foamy light beige head, caramel aroma, high carbonation, medium bitter taste with molasses, plum and a bit of metallic twang, thin body, medium finish. Not bad, but there is strange metallic taste.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a glossy burnt amber almost close to a brown color. Sly transparency weaves about. Finger’s worth of white foamy head roamed here and there. Semi-sticky lacing, kinda messy.
The aroma starts off with the normal qualities of an English Brown ale, sweet toffee rich to nutty character.
The flavor leans sweet and smooth. More toffee than expected, but decent. Sly crisp sweet nutty to toffee aftertaste. Sweet wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fantastic sessionability about it. Carbonation seems to barely hit. Just really moves really nicely on my tongue.
Overall, just a tad lighter in color than expected, but everything else is right on for the style.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. White head with little retention recedes to skim surface. Dark caramel and candy corn aromas. Soft with dark caramel and toffee upfront turning to bitter earth in the lasting finish.

Tried this at the brewery. Somehting put me off about this beer. Maybe it was the fact that it was too sweet or maybe it was that it was a bit oto citrusy, but something made me enjoy this beer less than other Brown Ales. Actually all of the beers that I sampled from there had the same strange taste. I suppose that this is a different strokes for different folks type of beer. Try it, maybe you will like it... maybe not.

Clear brown colour with a ruby tint and a large dense tan head. Actually a nice aroma of raisins, caramel, malt and pit fruit. Light-bodied; Hardly any taste picked up but a bit of the sweetness. Afterataste shows some of the malt, and more of a watery flavour. Overall, good look and good smell...but it really ends there. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World and don't reccomend it.

Muchbetter than the American Bright and the IPA. Nice caramel malt nose, with nut feel in mouth, and some of the hops comming up in after-taste. Could see a bit of diacetyl here too.

After two bad experiences with their beer, I was pleasantly surprised by this one - it's quite a tasty brown ale - aroma is nutty and malty - flavor has a good dose of malt, with grainy, bready flavors, a small amount of chocolate - a bit of hops in the finish balance it well - a well-rounded ale.
