Our bokbier for Easter; soft and slightly spicy taste, thereby producing a fine flavour. The flavour and aromas give a nicely balanced mix of fruit, coriander, yeast and hops. An enjoyable combination in which the bitter element gets an additional boost from the lightly roasted malt. The aftertaste is slightly sparkling, with a long-lasting, fresh, sweet flavour. An excellent beer for celebrating the arrival of spring!

On tap @ Brouwerij ’t IJ, Amsterdam. Pours hazy orange with a finger thick creamy head. Aroma is yeasty, with a caramelly hoppy orange peel bitterness to it. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is quite yeasty with a good touch of citrusy hops and zesty orange peel, as well as a good heather honey sweetness. Quite nice.

Of course I’ve been drinking this since 1986...but not in recent years. Now that the quality of ’t IJ beers seems to be back on track it’s time again. Amber hazy color. Firm off white head with good retention. Aroma’s: caramel, fruity, yeasty, biscuits and spices. Malty sweetness and some tart fruits retronasal. Flavor is only lightly sweet, fruity. Medium bodied. Finishes with a subtle bitterness. Almost like the old days.

330 ml bottle @ Håndverkerstuene, thanx to espenra. A hazy orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma is strong and nice, fruity Belgium yeast, spices, malt and a hint of bouillon. Flavor is moderat malty, sweet, some caramel, fruity, spicy, moderate bitter and very refreshing. Nice balance and a good body with a pleasant aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden. Another nice one from Brouwerij ’t IJ.

330ml bottle to finish off a joyful evening at HĂĄndverkerstuene. Close to clear amber in body appearance. Huge, loose, and bubbly white head. Fine aroma of herbal hops added by a fresh citrus touch. Wheat citrus in flavour supported by spices and lemon. Candy sweet backbone offset by a dry bitter finale. Good drinkability (Oslo, 15.09.2012).

33cl bottle at HĂĄndverkerstuene, Oslo. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, flowers, fruits and Belgian yeast. Sweet, fruity and floral with a yeasty and just slightly bitter finish. Nice and easy beer for spring time, but works well in autumn too. (2012-09-15)

Medium offwhite head. Hazy opaque amber body. Fruity mealy orangey aroma with spicy herbal toffee notes, with traces of oil and paper. Dry-sweet toffee and resiny fruit taste with grassy herbal spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry fruity resiny peppery aftertaste with orangey mealy notes. Excellent! Full-flavoured and highly drinkable. Reminiscent of Westmalle Trippel. (0.33l bottle, HĂĄndverkerstuene, Oslo.)
