Canned. Pours on the lighter side of brown. Mild caramel notes but overall kind of a watery and characterless dunkel.

From May 2007

I received this from jwc215...Thanks again, Joe!

Pours from 12oz can a clear amber with a huge head of foam that shrinks to about a finger layer but never leaves the scene and there's plenty of lacing.

The smell is light. I get some sweet malt and some hop bitterness.

The taste on first sip hits my palate with a caramel malt flavour that's by some hop bitterness and some citrus...it has a lemon zestiness to it that borders on being on the sour side. Interesting.

Further sips in and I'm getting biscuity notes and some roasted malt but the twang from the lemon zest is top dog here for me. The finish returns to the caramel malt and makes for a very nice aftertaste.

It has a light body and the carbonation is pretty high.

Bottom line: This has a really unusual taste for a Dunkel and that keeps me interested for the entire session. I recommend it, as it would make for an excellent summertime staple.

Draught @ Albion. Clear dark amber with small foamy off-white head, faint caramel aroma, high carbonation, slightly sweet caramel taste with bitterness at the end, thin body, medium bitter caramel finish. Smooth and easy to drink.

Hazy brown coloured body with a ridiculously large, exploding, tan head that looks like soda and doesn’t stop with carbonation - at all. Aroma of pale malt, caramel, a touch of pit fruits and a lot of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt and caramel sweetness up front with some light nuts and a lot of cardboardie funkiness on the back end. Aftertaste has some light sugars, but mainly an odd sweet, nutty taste. Overall, not such a great beer and the overkill on carbonation just makes it plain bad. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 04-September-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 30-November-2010.

Dark red amber with a beige head that sticks around for some moments. Has a very lager smell with the slightest amount of German Lager hops smell in it (looking at what people write about aromas, it seems that no one can agree on what the aroma is). Front of the beer feels like nothing and the tastes develop more towards the middle and the end. You got some lager bitterness, like the same kind that you would find in a Heineken. A few roasted malts notes. Bitter finish. Minimal aftertaste.
