Scottish Ale is our interpretation of the hearty brews native to Scotland. A shade darker than our Bitter, with a rich, slightly sweet first impression on the palate that rounds out to a satisfying maltiness and a medium-dry hop finish.

12 ounce bottle. Dark copper color. Medium-sized foamy beige head. Subtle bready toasted malt aroma. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor upfront. Notes of roasted nuts and dark caramel. Slightly sour backdrop. Brief woody finish with a hint of dry hops.

The appearance is a deep golden brown color with a short white head that lingers a bit and leaves a good lacing along the sides of the glass. The smell contains caramelized malts, vanilla, butterscotch and touches of hops. The taste has a sweet but a sort of mildness of caramel and butterscotch within the malty character. Once again the hops are mild and balances superbly in this beer. There is a sligbhtly sweet aftertaste. The palatel is smooth and a little crisp, with a medium body, and medium carbonation. The finish is a bit dry. Overall, this is a good beer.

Copper in color almost translucent. Large bubbly head if poured correctly. A nice layer of head that leaves good to spotty lacing. Low to medium carbonation. Bread/biscuit aroma. Taste is going to be on the lighter end of the style. The different element is the peat malt. Light to watery mouthfeel with a dry finish. If I wanted the lighter end of the style I would buy this. Good brew.

Pours deep amber into a thistle. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet butterscotch aromas. Caustic carbonation upfront with dark pit fruits and butterscotch turning bitter in the lasting dry finish.

Quickly dissipating head. Brownish amber body. Sugary malt aroma. Lots of caramel in the taste. Slight bitterness. Mostly just a lot of malts in the taste. Sticky mouthfeel. Tastes like mediocre candy.

A dark amber ale with a thin off white head. A strong caramel aroma with notes of vanilla. In mouth, a rather boring ale, with sweet caramel, light hopping, nutty notes, rather cloying sweetness in final. Bottle from Gonzobeer.

Bottle. Sweet butter toffee and pepper malt aroma. Dark amber color with small head. Buttery toffee malt with an oak/mild hops finish. Long lasting hops aftertaste. This reminded me more of the Irish ales I’ve had.

2004-2005 bomber shared with Muzzlehatch at the "Crappy Maine beers plus two random Belgians and a Cider" Tasting on 5/22/2005. Dark amber-light-tan colored body, some auburn tints. Small white head is gone in no time, no lacing. Chill haze to the body, not altogether completely filtered. Caramel, light nutty hops bitterness and butterscotch in the nose. Flavor is light diacetyl, standard caramel-toffee, candied oranges, and some light citrus bitterness on the end. Reasonably well-extracted malt providing a medium to medium-full body makes this one enjoyable. Lightly chewy mouthfeel with some thinning on the end as it warms.
