Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter is an original specialty beer that has been brewed expressly for tavern owners and family trade since 1829. We are proud to be one of the largest Porter producers in the US. Our Porter calls for a generous portion of caramel and dark roasted malts, which deliver a rich, full-bodied flavor and creamy taste with slight tones of chocolate evident in every sip.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of BoostIPA. Thanks boost! Pours a dark brown, clear appearance with a brown head. Toffee, caramelized sugar, a touch fruity, earthy, chocolate aroma. A bit skunky, burnt sugar, chocolate, slightly bitter flavor. Not horrendous but definitely not a good porter.

Bottle. Dark brown with beige foamy head, fruity aroma, slightly bitter coffee beans taste which disappears into bland doughy taste quickly, low carbonation, sour abrupt finish. Disappointing porter. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dark Brewed Porter on 13 Jun 2013 at 17:53 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 4 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Smells of malt. Pours black with decent head. Palate is watery and grainy. Some nutty bitter on aftertaste though light. Palate dies pretty quick. Boring.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of raisin, roasted grain, chocolate, light coffee, and light herbal. Ok aromas with decent balance and weak strength. Taste of chocolate, roasted grain, toast, biscuit, caramel, light coffee, light fruits, and light herbal spiciness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, roasted malt, toast, caramel, and light herbal on the finish for a short bit. Solid flavor balance, but does not feel very robust as a porter should be; no cloying flavors at all after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy mouthfeel that is ok. This was quite thin feeling. Alcohol is well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a decent porter. This was not as robust as I would expect from the style; but the flavor profile is good, though a bit weak; and is still quite enjoyable and easy to drink.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Dark brown with a beige head. Malty aroma with a bit of roastiness, some toastinessm nuts, caramel and some chocolate. Dry-ish flavor, has a bit sweetish and slightly acidic malt, a bit of dark bread, a bit of chocolate, caramel and a slightly roasty finish. Medium-bodied. Pretty light but OK.

12 oz bottle from TheEpeeist. Nose is hints of coffee and caramel, the odors being kind of light. Hazy brown with a thick, long lasting beige head. Flavor is malty with some sweetness. Would be a good session brew.
