Yuengling Dark Brewed Porter is an original specialty beer that has been brewed expressly for tavern owners and family trade since 1829. We are proud to be one of the largest Porter producers in the US. Our Porter calls for a generous portion of caramel and dark roasted malts, which deliver a rich, full-bodied flavor and creamy taste with slight tones of chocolate evident in every sip.

12oz bottle pours deep amber with infra red edges, one inch mocha head and decent looking lacing. This is a nice looking Porter. The aroma is on the mild side with roasted malts, toast and roasted malt astringency. The astringency actually smells roasted. There is also a hint of fruity esters in there too with a decent draw. The taste has an inviting semi thick and creamy body for the style. The taste is mild with roasty malts and malt astringency. To midway and into the finish the roasted malts are met by a chocolate malts, burnt malts and a hint of sweet caramel. Nice offering.

Grass and molasses aroma. Black pour with a medium tan head. It tastes of smoke and charred oak, slightly dry and sour. Coffee and lemon grass finish. Nice carbonation. It’s good, but there isn’t anything special about it. Needs character.

Bottle. Dark used motor oil pour. Foamy one finger head. Aromas are predominantly dark malt, chocolate and molasses... but somehow not very convincing. Flavor is about the same. Mouthfeel is pretty good... but that’s a highlight... the rest of the senses are a little disappointed. Flavor is a ho-hum roasted malt with a little bit of a nutty undertone, but lacks any great complexity. It’s a pretty decent dark beer, but a pretty mediocre porter.

Well carbonated. Dark brown color. Standard porter aroma with lightly roasted malt and only a hint of coffee. Not really mellow, but lively from the carbonation. A decent session beer.

Been waiting a while to try this, their black and tan is one of my faves. 12 oz bottle with a twist off cap. Pop the lid for a decent porter aroma. Has the smells of roasty beer and a little uncooked rising bread dough. Pour is very dark, nearly opague but has some light brown gleaming thru the edge of the glass. No head on this stuff. Flavor is well behaved, not at all with any in yer face bitterness. Good tingly carbonation is welcomed. Friendly and certainly not a baltic porter, to nice and smooth. Is easy to get along with and fun to enjoy. A good example of an american dark beer, almost so smooth it could be classified as an american dark lager. Roasted hints and even perhaps some chocolate in there. A milder porter that lager lovers will enjoy. Not offensive in any way. Has just enough bitterness to let you know this is a dark beer. There is a mild back of throat bitterness that reminds me of meat burned on the grill. Over all a very nice session. I like this stuff!

Sample at Firewaters in Atlantic City. Dark brown color with a wispy khaki colored head. Very little lacing is apparent. Sweet malt and fruit aroma. Medium body with mild roasted malt and coffee flavors. Very fruity at times as well. The finish is sweet and fruity with some coffee and malt notes. Overall the beer is a little disjointed and average.

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized brown bubblyish foamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, smoke and some hops. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, some slight chocolate and some caramel. Some slight bittering hops in finish. Hoppy and roasted aftertaste. Smooth and pleasant.

Managed to cnvince one of my friends to purchase a case of this instead of whatever cheap beer she was intending to purchase at first. The beer pours a nice dark color with a head that descends a little bit more quickly than some other porters. This beer was a little bit more thin than a more robust porter, but at the same time it was not at all on the watery side of life. Overall, not a bad beer (porter or otherwise) and it is easy to drink a lot of as well.

I’m shocked. This porter was actually quite good. Roasty malts, with a caramel flavor.
