A refreshing wheat beer spiced with fresh ginger root. The process of making this wheat beer has been nicknamed "special ginger tea", due to the fact that we add over 20 lbs. of fresh ground ginger root into the boil.
We use pale malt, and wheat, as well as Target and Whitbread Goldings Variation hops to flavor this light, summer ale.
Island Ginger is particularly popular during the warmer summer months, though thanks to the ginger kick it has, it would also be warming in the cold winter months.

Draft flight at Atlantic Brewing in Bar Harbour, Maine. Cloudy gold color with a small white head. Decent wheat base but waaay to much ginger taste for my liking. Pass.

Bottle. Toffee malt and ginger aroma. Hazy amber with small head. Sweet ginger and very light toffee malt flavor. Decent.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a hazy orange amber body leaving a small half finger white head lasting for less than ten seconds. Small streams of carbonation were seen rising. There was barely any lacing.
The smell had the ginger up front with some light malts coming out as the beer warmed, not much else going on.
The taste was basically the same.
On the palate, she sat about a medium and was sharp as hell, probably due to the ginger, so its expected (it tells me the ginger is real and not fake). For 5.2, I’d say this is fairly drinkable, but the sharpness of the ginger helps to bring it down a bit.
Overall, I’m a big fan of ginger and actually really liked this and if I lived in their distro would definitely want more of.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan. Fading soda-like head. Coconut-fruity aroma isn’t unpleasant, but isn’t a great beer aroma either. Ginger forward, but a decent enough of a malt base to ground it. Well done for a Ginger beer certainly, just not a beer you really want to revisit.

The Gibson, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours a cloudy light orange with a small white head. Aroma is wheat and diluted ginger. Taste is wheat at the front, then a sort of weird spicy feeling reminiscent of ginger toward the back. This ain’t great by any means, but is drinkable and somewhat unique.

Drought. Hazy yellow-gray appearance, beige spongy head, fruity aroma, sweetish spicy taste, slightly bitter long finish. Interesting taste reminded me of a bitter named TEA to me. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mount Desert Island Ginger on 04 Jun 2013 at 10:52 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Color of dirty water. Very light ginger in the flavor and aroma, but a beer with very little flavor. Light palate, and it is hard to taste the ginger without a very big sip.

A golden ale witH no head. Ginger, maple and citrus in aroma. In mouth, a biscuitty malt carapils, with light but sustained ginger, light hops. A good summer ale. Bottle from Inertiaboy. shared Aug. 2008, while harvesting his hops.

Bottle from Wine Cellar. Hazy golden tinged amber color with a slight white head. Aroma is ginger. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. The flavor is primarily ginger, though there seems to be a bit of breadiness underneath. This is a very good ginger. It keeps the spiciness right on through to the end.

Pours gold into a shaker. White head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet malt and mild ginger aromas. Sweet full malt upfront with a cloying ginger finish.
