La Folie, French for "the folly," is a beer steeped in New Belgium brewing tradition. This wood-aged, sour brown spends one to three years in big oak barrels known as foeders. And when the beer finally hits the glass, La Folie is sharp and sour, full of green apple, cherry, and plum-skin notes. Pouring a deep mahogany, the mouthfeel will get you puckering while the smooth finish will get you smiling. Not a beer for the timid, La Folie is a sour delight that will turn your tongue on its head. Find out why it's considered one of the best sour beers around.

Bottle. Pours a deep red color. Fruity, vinous and sweet aroma. Taste is even more vinous. A bit dry. Notes of currant seeds. Reminds me of a sour beer from Lost Abbey.

Flaska från SB. Rödbrun vätska med låg skumslöja. Saftade, syrliga bär med inslag av ekfat. Syrlig lätt kemisk i smaken. Liten strävhet från ekfat men framförallt saftade bär. Saknar komplexitet.

Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen.

Bottle shared at Anchorage Feb ’15 Tasting: Poured orange brown with a tan head. Aroma is a nice funk and berry jam. Taste follows with similar berry jam, woodsy and funky.

Bottle. A- Sour, tart, citrus, lemon, cherries, vinegar, oak. A- Reddish brown color, clear dark liquid, off white head. T- Very sour, tart, slightly sweet, lemon juice, cherries, vinegar. P- Light body, average texture, medium high carbonation, sour finish. O- Wow. This beer smells sour and tart and tastes crazy sour and tart. You start to get used to it but by that time it’s almost gone. Lots of lemon juice and vinegar with subtle notes of cherries and oak. Glad to have tried this when I did. I don’t think I would’ve liked it early on in my beer drinking days.
