Bottle @ De Heeren. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aromas of citrus, apples, mouldy dust, apricots, leather, heavy funky cheese. Taste has lots of tart fruity notes. Unripe plums, red apples, gooseberries, cheese, light mouldy dusty cellar, sweet oak. Very different gueuze compared to the older Lindemans I've tried - and very good for its age!

Bottle @ De Heeren van Liedekercke. Blonde. Honey, dust, apple and mango in the aroma. Remains of oak. Sweetish flavor with some lemny sourness and oak. Granny Smith apples. Has thinned over the years. Pleasant sour aftertaste with pineapple and mango.

Bottle, massive, massive, massive, massive, etc....thanks to Brian for tracking this down and trading for it and then offering to bring it. Wow, talk about beers you never thought you’d have a prayer to try! Shared on 10/8/16.
Wonderful condition, actually showing a moderate amount of carbonation at this point, the yeast/bacteria having perked up, as it goes. Deep, copper-bronze-golden hue as is characteristic of Cuvee Rene. White head showing light retention. Good clarity.
Brings me right back to the hayday of Cuvee Rene. It’s still a good gueuze, but recent vintages are nothing like the best late 90’s and early 00’s I’ve had. This one recalls the glorious horseblanket, light cheese, big brett fruitiness and light apple, strawberry, pear qualities. Throw in some moderate lactic character, no alcohol or flaw and you’ve got yourself a beer in wonderful shape and probably easily drinkable for many years to come.
Soft, tightly carbonated texture with malt and wheat providing additional softness and light honey. The brett fruitiness outdoes the lactic sourness and there is a plethora of light band aid, horseblanket, dried hay and other various barnyard qualities. Cellar mustiness quite reserved and as it warms and breathes, the big fruitiness continues to emerge.
To me this seems like just another fine vintage of Cuvee Rene (which is, after all, exactly what it is), so nothing particularly weird/interesting/different here than if you’d opened a great 1998 or 2000 Cuvee Rene. But still every bit as nice as those.

Poured from a bottle at DHVL. Aroma is very earthy and herbal with a light woody note. A light spiciness to it with moderate oak notes. Light acidity. A touch of citrus and a light cork note. Pours a fairly clear golden color with some copper hues and some orange with a medium small, thin white head. Flavor has a light sweetness with some light caramel and butterscotch notes. Some medium light oak notes. A nice herbal character with some earthiness and a bit of wood. Low bitterness. Medium acidity with light citrus and tropical fruit notes. Nice herbal, earthy notes that add a touch of spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a better beer than I was expecting. The beer is still lazy, but has great woody and earthy notes. A bit of a cork note, but not corked. Since I can’t try the Cantillon Loerik I thought I would drink this one.

2000 Bottle shared at DHVL. Clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is slightly floral, with a nice light dank cellar funk, citrus, tart fruits, wet dog, a little cheesy and a light minty note. Flavour is moderate sour. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.
