#2700. Thx to FlavioSP for telling me that the guys from the Mikkeller & To Øl @ Borefts 2013 were giving away this for free. Obv. thx to them for giving this away, I was taken a bit aback & they gave away a lot of other goodies as well during the festival. Sampled from a growler. I heard that a lot of these are infected in general & the rare which I also tried did have some issues but luckily this one wasn’t infected. Pours black with some mocha head only on the sides. Nose is huge vanilla, clear roast, smooth, maple syrup, creamy, touch vinous & molasses. Taste is slightly vinous, roast, syrup, caramel, brown sugar, clear roast, slight ash, grounded coffee beans, touch molasses, finish is warming & whilst not boozy, this clearly shows its ABV, barrel becomes a bit evident in the finish. Body is a bit on the lighter side for an RIS. A very nice beer but the hype for this one is completely inexplicable to me, I had better RIS’s at the festival. There is a lot of stuff that is better & way, way, way easier to get than this beer.

Sampled from bottle @ Borefts 2013. Thanks to whoever brought it to our table. Opaque pitch black color, no head. Smell and taste malts, vanilla, sweetness, lightly roasty, liquorice and alcohol. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Good but not as good as expected imo.

Growlerette received in trade from MeadMe, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a thick inky black color with a tiny tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is heavy on the alcohol and rum with bits of roast, chocolate, dark pitted fruit and caramel. The flavor is chocolate, brown sugar, and caramel with a heavy presence of ethanol, rum and bits of earthy wood. Faint smokey malt and bits of dark fruit round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation, and a slick, oily mouthfeel. This one gets a bit hot and is a sipper to be sure. This grew on me as I got towards the end.

Batch is 2013 mid year. Insane pitch black color, very thin tan head. Nose is rum spice, rich roasted malt, vanilla and mild dark chocolate. Flavor is decadent. Not to be a cheap rater but... All the same flavors as the aroma. The mouthfeel is real creamy with lots of silky texture. Full body with a great level of complexity. Rum is one of the few hard Liquors that I really enjoy, this gives me an imperial stout with rum barrel, a big Grand Slam home run for me, really awesome stout!

New batch mid 2013. okay okay okay, this one is NOT infected! :)

A - Looks the same as Rare, oily black, silky smooth.

S - Smells wonderful. This has a tootsie roll nose with chocolate and cherry pie with some earthy aromas. Definite rum nose as well.

T - You get a mix of cigar tobacco, dark fruits, TONS of delicious south-florida rum and a mild bitterness. Load of chocolate. I also get some vanilla very faint, berries? wow.

M - Heavy body, thick and oily, very nice

O - I LOVE this version of DOS. WOW. Memorable and delicious! Could drink the whole thing myself.

Flip top thanks to Luke! Pours a pure jet black color with some legs, a medium brown head. A big cocoa, rum, ash, char nose. The flavor is huge fudge, oak, sweet hot rum, dark fruit, tobacco, bitter chocolate. The rum adds a bit of a tropical element. Very damn good.

To celebrate Alfred Klinkby Lukassen. SkΓ₯l min dreng. Growler. Bottled 21/12-2012. 50cl. Pours black with a creamy head and lacings. Nose is roasted and vinous. Deep sherry like notes. Dark fruit, raisin, chocolate and coffee. Flavor has massive liquorice and wood. Smooth and soft. Tobacco, cellar and a mild acidic touch in the far finish. Had a sample of this the day after I opened the bottle and the barrel complexity was even stronger and overall more mellow and tasty. Less cellar and acid. A really great and complex impy.

Growler thanks to 50belair!! Pours opaque black with a medium creamy dark brown head that dissipates leaving great lacing. Aroma is rum, dark roast, molasses, figs, vanilla. Flavor is the same, light plus sweet, light bitter, a touch of astringence and a bit of coffee. Finish is warming and rummy. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Pretty nice beer.
